Mentoring, while often confused with coaching, is a distinct and important skill. Mentors have subject-matter expertise and are recognised in their field for their wisdom and experience. Mentoring is a vital process to help encourage and support organisational talent and improve retention.
Coaching and mentoring skills are complementary. Within a learning organisation, mentoring programs are often run concurrently with coaching programs, however, they can also be run as stand-alone programs.
Many mentoring programs fall short of expectations. In our experience this is due to lack of structure and skills that support and maintain the program.
The Institute is experienced in designing and implementing mentoring programs that are customised to the needs of the organisation, including the elements that are critical to embed and sustain a mentoring program.
The Institute also offers one-on-one mentoring to executives.
