Background

Julie-Anne possesses a unique blend of human resources and business experience applied at all levels of the organisational environment. This provides her with practical insights into the challenges of today’s executives. For the past 15 years, Julie-Anne has held a number of senior human resources roles in a range of industries in the Asia Pacific region, including outsourcing, IT and government. Julie-Anne spent 10 years working in the electricity industry at a time of massive reform and privatisation, focusing on redesigning roles, restructuring and the development of Senior Executive Service (SES) officers to meet the change. Julie-Anne has had responsibility for the human resources strategy and support for up to 8,000 employees, lead the people elements of large business development opportunities, run her own consultancy and has had university research and academic teaching experiences.

Additionally, Julie-Anne has focused on the assessment and development of leadership capability as a key requirement of business success and has undertaken talent management and succession planning in a number of different organisational contexts. She has coached senior executives and executive teams, assisting them to develop skills to improve their business performance, increasing their ability to relate and interact with their people and to ensure their own personal success. For example, Julie-Anne has coached executives to:

  • effectively lead their people through the difficult and significant changes required to position their business for  success
  • maximise their ability to perform and work effectively with the diverse leadership styles of others
  • transition effectively into new roles and environments in new and different industries
  • maximise and develop their political savvy in their organisation and industry environments
  • transform working relationships and resolve interpersonal tensions
  • develop their ability to lead at the strategic and visionary level
  • adapt and enhance their personal approach and leadership style for success in their current business context
  • develop and implement the ability to market and ‘sell themselves’ effectively
  • position and develop themselves effectively for the next role at MD or CEO level
  • raise their self-awareness and further develop their emotional intelligence
  • develop their abilities to have ‘difficult’ or ‘crucial’ conversations and enhance their questioning and listening skills
  • deal with the personal impacts of a changing organisation and marketplace; and
  • determine and act upon their desired career direction.

Most recently, Julie-Anne has applied this experience to the coaching of CEO's, business and human resources leaders in the finance and insurance, telecommunications, outsourcing, engineering industries and the not-for-profit sector. One of her current areas of interest includes coaching female CEO’s for success. Julie-Anne is also passionate about contributing to the development of the coaching profession and is currently undertaking research into the nature, purpose and influence of executive coaching in Australian organisations for her PhD qualification.
